400 Competitors from 22 Countries to participate in Jahorina Ultra Trail

The third edition of sports manifestation Jahorina Ultra Trail was announced for July 29 and 30. It is a competition within which will be held four races including Mini Trail (14km), Midi trail (34km), Maxi Trail (69 km) and Ultra trail (34 km). These trails will have different lengths, and they will take place on the Jahorina trails connected to Ravna Mountain, Romanija, Sarajevo, and Trebevic.

The director of Ultra Trail Sanja Kavaz said that a total of 400 competitors from 22 countries confirmed their participation in this year’s edition.

“Jahorina Ultra Trail as sport and tourism product is intended to present natural, historical, cultural and Olympic inheritance to participants and broad public. Therefore, trails are navigated on the most beautiful paths of Jahorina-Romanija region and Olympic locations such as bob track on Trebevic, biathlon track on Dvorista and ski trail on Jahorina,” stated Kavaz.

Miso Bendalo, the secretary of the Athletic association of BiH, had a key role in connecting  ultra runners from BiH with the International Association of ultra-runners, which opened the doors for BH representation.

“We accepted that our ultra-runners become members of the International athletic association or ultra-marathon runners. Following that logic, there was no reason nor obstacles not to accept that. We are very happy for that opportunity. Our financial situation is not good enough to support them in that way, but we will help them in any way possible,” said Bendalo.

Organizers of this sport and tourist event are the Mountaineering club Jahorina and the Olympic Committee of BiH, which also financially supported the project.
