Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH and Minister of Finance and Treasury Vjekoslav Bevanda and Vice President of Saudi Fund for Development Yousef bin Ibrahim Al-Bassam signed loan agreements for reconstruction and equipping of hospitals in Mostar and Konjic as well as several projects that will take place in the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo.

The value of signed loan agreements is 45.7 million BAM for reconstruction and equipping of hospitals in Mostar and Konjic, as there are also several projects in the Municipality of Stari Grad in Sarajevo. The period of the loan is 25 years, which includes a five-year grace period and the interest rate of 2 % per year.

“We have signed two loan agreements today. The first refers to the construction and reconstruction of the hospitals in BiH whose total value amounts to 32,4 million BAM. Our main aim is to renovate the facilities, equip them with the most modern medical equipment and thus increase the quality of our healthcare services,” stated Minister Bevanda.

The hospital in Konjic will receive 3.2 million BAM through this credit arrangement that will be used for the construction of an additional floor for accommodation of 30 extra beds for the Department of Neurology and Paediatrics and procuring of medical equipment and furniture.

The second agreement is very important for the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo because they received a total of 13,3 million BAM with this loan agreement. Most of these funds will be invested in the construction of parking lots and public areas in the total amount of 6,8 million BAM, as well as for the construction of the sports hall in Elementary School “Edhem Mulabdic”  in the amount of 2,2 million BAM, the completion of the construction of the municipal ambulance in the amount of 2,4 million BAM, and the reconstruction of the building of the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo in the amount of 1.9 million BAM.

After signing the agreement, Al-Bassam noted great relations between the two countries and two peoples.

“By signing these agreements, the Saudi Fund for Development invested a total of 307 million BAM for several projects in BiH so far,” concluded Al-Bassam.
