SARAJEVO, July 29 (Xinhua) — Traditional jumps from the Old Bridge in Mostar, some 120 kilometers south of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH) capital Sarajevo, was held on Sunday late afternoon for the 452nd time.
From the 28-meter-high Old Bridge, the UNESCO monument, 40 jumpers jumped in two disciplines: on head and on legs. By the judge’s decision made up of five members, the best jump on the head was won by Lorens Listo for the 12th time in a row, while Igor Kazic won the jumps on legs.
For the first and second series of jumps, Listo got a maximum 100 points, while Kazic also won maximum 100 points for both jumps.
Mustafa Saric with 99 points took second place in jumps on head and Dino Bajric, with 98 points was the third.
When it comes to jumps on legs, Adis Boskailo was second and Ermin Saric was third.
Listo said that he will start preparations and training for the next competition as of Monday. He sent an important message to new jumpers by advising them to jump from 10 meters high and then later, to jump from the Old Bridge.
“When I climb on the bridge, I do not know what can happen, this is a very dangerous sport,” Listo said after the jump.
Igor Kazic won his sixth best title in jumps, and he said that he always expects the best because he is constantly training on the bridge.
Some thousand tourists and residents of BiH were watching the jumps below the Old Bridge. In 1664, the first jump was recorded and since then, it is a tradition for Mostar’s young men to jump from the Old Bridge in the cold Neretva River.
