Overall objective of this project is to reduce rural poverty through the provision of assistance to farmers in the process of transition to commercial agriculture and development of the sector of non-agricultural companies, which will stimulate the creation of opportunities for employment in rural areas.

The agreement that was signed is related to the FBiH where the loan will be allocated, and it will be used to support and invest in rural entrepreneurship, as well as the infrastructure of rural markets.

Minister Bevanda thanked the Director-General of OFID after signing the agreement on the support they provided to BiH, and expressed hope that they will continue the good cooperation in the future.

“This is a favorable loan with a grace period of 5 years, repayment period of 15 years, and a favorable interest rate of 2.75 % per year. I am sure that these funds will contribute to improvement of agricultural production and its adaptation to new market conditions,” said Minister Bevanda.

The Director General of OFID emphasized that this institution will continue supporting development projects in BiH, especially in the area of reduction of poverty in rural areas.

The signing of the agreement was also attended by Ambassador of BiH to Austria, Tomislav Leko.
