In Gradačac, the 50th jubilee international fair of agriculture and food industry – the Plum Fair – was closed today, where more than 300 exhibitors from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the countries of the region, France and Turkey presented themselves in the past four days.

The organizer of this fair event, which began on August 23, was the Tourist Board of the town of Gradačac, with the support of the City of Gradačac and numerous partners and sponsors.

This year’s fair, as was said at the opening ceremony, is an opportunity for that city to be recognized for its positive news after the recent tragic event.

“All planned activities have been implemented. I believe that we benefited from the lectures from the expert-scientific consultation on agriculture and tourism, as well as beekeeping. We are glad that in the jubilee year our exhibitors are satisfied with their participation in this fair event. Although we have canceled all entertainment programs due to the tragedy that recently befell our city, we are pleased with the fact that numerous guests and tourists visited the city and the fairgrounds. This shows that the guests, exhibitors and our fellow citizens love and are happy to come to this event, regardless of the circumstances in which it is organized, and we thank them once again for that,” said Ensar Mešanović, head of the Tourist Office in Gradačac.

Stjepan Mesić, former president of the Republic of Croatia, was among the guests and friends of the Gradačac fair.

“I am interested in a lot of things, what is happening around and in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is something that is important for our entire region, it is important for Croatia and it is important for Europe. I am here for a business meeting. If the economy is organized well, then that is also a political message. That’s why I think that the most important thing for Bosnia and Herzegovina is to be occupied with economic solutions, and then the political ones are also solved,” Mesić said.

An invitation was issued for the joint engagement of all levels of government, science, profession, agricultural and industrial sectors, in order to provide the necessary conditions for the production and marketing of food. It was said that the city fair is an opportunity to present achievements in the field of agriculture and food industry.

As the organizers announced, they talked about the use of new technologies in the monitoring and protection of agricultural crops, the use of bioregulators and modern food supply channels. In addition to new software solutions, modern technology and the use of drones, agricultural machinery also plays an important role.

The company “Sinpeks B” from Bijeljina exhibited tractors, agricultural machinery, attachment machines and equipment for arranging and maintaining the garden, and the company “Rakić” from Brčko District also had an exhibition hall, which presented five models of IMT tractors with attachments.

This year too, Plum Fair medals were awarded for the quality of the exhibited products.

Also, the Association of Beekeepers “Pčela” Gradačac organized the 6th International Beekeeping Fair, which was held as a sub-fair event during the days of the Plum Fair.
