75th Anniversary of Uprising against Fascism marked

Day of Uprising cazin.netThe Historical Museum of BiH and the Federation of Anti-Fascists and Fighters of the National Liberation War (SABNOR) marked the July 27, Day of Uprising of BiH People and 75th anniversary of the historical day when the uprising against fascism began in 1941.

While evoking memory of the heroes who led the fight against fascism, Bogić Bogićević, President of SABNOR Bakir Nakaš and Director of the Historical Museum of BiH Elma Hašimbegović pointed out the significance of the marking of this date, as well as the importance of passing the history to young generations.

Hašimbegović said that the Museum preserves the material and tradition of what the revolution from 1941 until 1945 brought, as well as what the BiH defense brought in the period from 1992 until 1995.

Nakaš reminded that 75 years ago the barehanded people decided to take fate into their hands and “they did not need the international community, they did not need mediators and advisors who would tell them what to do”.

“They said ‘no’ to fascism and that is what we need in BiH now, in BiH in which some politicians strive to split the country in three parts,” Nakaš said,

Bogićević said that BiH can be proud of what the anti-fascists did in the Second World War and  how they protected BiH, but that, unfortunately, “45 years later fascists are again on the stage in BiH, people who have the same symbols and same pretensions to win other people’s territory, mass killings of others and the different ones, concentration camps and everything that fascism and nationalism is, imbued with hatred and violence”.

“Those who swear to be anti-fascists have devaluated the value of those people who fought against fascism, who belonged to the winning coalition. Today, streets and monuments in Sarajevo, Mostar, Banja Luka are not named after them, they were replaced with streets and monuments named after the people who committed crimes, who were with Hitler or supported Hitler,” Bogićević said.

July 27, 1941 represents one of the most significant and one of the brightest dates in the history of BiH. It is the day when the people of BiH started the armed fight against fascism in the Second World War.
