Eight hundred seventy-four women took part in the Second DM race on Sunday morning, one of the growing number of sporting events taking root during summer in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH) capital Sarajevo.

Beginning at 10 a.m. at Vilson’s Promenade in the city center, women were running five kilometers despite the heavy rain that hit Sarajevo.

The first place was won by Biljana Cvijanovic, a BiH runner who won the First DM race held last year here.  Organizers pointed out on the record number of women who participated at the race, reminding that last year, 350 women run.

They thanked to last year participants who contributed by their experience and comments, to persuade their friends and colleagues to participate this year.  Regardless of the placement, all participants received a medal, a t-shirt and a rich gift box containing cosmetics. The winner received a prize of 400 KM (250 U.S. dollars). By organizing the race, BiH capital joined major European cities that have been holding this popular race for years.

After the awarding ceremony, runners entertained at the After Run event featuring DJs, numerous promotions and tasting of dmBio products. After the race, runners donated 3, 000 KM (1,881 U.S. dollars) for the implementation of the “Teddy Bear Hospital” project, which will be implemented in the schools and kindergartens in Canton Sarajevo. The aim of the project is to educate children about the importance of medical examination through amusement workshops and to eliminate the fear of children from doctors.
