The Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nermin Nikšić, the Federal Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry, Vedran Lakić, and the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH and Minister of Defense of BiH, Zukan Helez, held an important meeting with the Director of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), Mike F. Miller, during their visit to the United States of America.

Prime Minister Nikšić and Minister Lakić expressed their gratitude to the United States of America for its long-standing support to the defense sector of our country. They also pointed out the importance of good cooperation with DSCA, especially in the support in equipping the Armed Forces of BiH and the procurement of helicopters.

It was emphasized that the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina is implementing a project to modernize the helicopter capacities of the Armed Forces of BiH. This involves the procurement of six new AW-119Kx helicopters, which confirms the strategic support of the United States to our country.

Minister Helez emphasized that this project represents a key step forward in the modernization of the Armed Forces of BiH, significantly improves operational capabilities, and enables the development of capacities for medical evacuation, search and rescue, as well as support for civilian institutions in crisis situations.

Speaking about the defense industry, Prime Minister Nikšić presented in detail the potential that the Federation of BiH possesses in this area. He also emphasized the possibilities for developing cooperation with the aim of further developing and attracting new American investments in our defense industry in the coming period, which will contribute to the modernization and technological improvement of this sector.

The topic of the meeting was also the Ten-Year Strategy for the Development of Defense Industry of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The commitment to directing future strategic directions to modern standards, which are also applied in the USA, was emphasized.

Also on this occasion, Prime Minister Nikšić and Minister Lakić pointed out the need to consider the possibility of abolishing US tariffs on Bosnia and Herzegovina, which would significantly facilitate the improvement of trade exchange and the placement of our products in the USA.

The delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina during its visit to the United States is led by the Deputy Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of BiH and Minister of Defense of BiH, Zukan Helez.
