Member of the European Parliament (MEP), Dietmar Koster addressed the member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Milorad Dodik in the European Parliament on Tuesday, telling him that there is no place for people like him in the European Union (EU).
Koster stated that he said this clearly and loudly: “there is no place in Europe for genocide denial“.
“The current blockade of the institutions of BiH, the complete lack of constructive dialogue, and the use of provocative rhetoric in public only lead to instability and delays in implementing reforms that are important for the state and a better life,” Koster explained.
After that, he sent a message to all three members of the BiH Presidency.
“I reaffirm my strong support for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of BiH, as well as its European integration. We stand by BiH. You have made a sovereign decision to join the EU. We in the EU are working with you to grant candidate status. We invite everyone to face the challenge and ensure a functioning democratic BiH so that it can continue the process, “Koster said.
Further, he added that they are critical of some EU measures and policies in BiH.
“But the EU cannot be the only mistake in the hinterland we are in. All of them have done too little to keep the country forward on the European path. We call on all parties to respect and protect state institutions, continue the constructive dialogue, and take steps to move towards the EU. integration, “ Koster added.
He concluded that while the country is institutionally stuck in a landslide, young Bosnians are leaving the country due to a lack of future and opportunities.
“Will you finally focus on what is most needed to consolidate the country: social cohesion? Will discriminatory measures like the two-school system under one roof be abolished,” Koster concluded.
To recall, members of the Presidency of BiH, Zeljko Komsic, Sefik Dzaferovic, and Milorad Dodik, addressed the European Parliament on Tuesday.
