The Mayor of the Municipality Novi Grad Sarajevo Semir Efendic, the director of the Directorate for roads of the Sarajevo Canton Adem Zolj, the Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton Elmedin Konakovic and the Cantonal Minister of Transportation Mujo Fiso today on Dobrinja officially marked the beginning of the construction of the A transversal, which should connect the Sarajevo International Airport with the neighborhood Mojmilo, actually the city of Sarajevo, in a faster way.
As it was said, the new modern road will connect the streets XII transversal, actually the Kurta Schorka street, across the part of the Brace Mulica street with the X transversal, and the total length of this road will amount to 1.800 meters.
The total value of the project is 5.8 million BAM, of which the Municipality Novi Grad Sarajevo together with the Directorate for roads of the Sarajevo Canton already provided a million BAM, and the company Euro-Asfalt Ltd. Sarajevo was selected as a contractor.
The Mayor of the Municipality Novi Grad Sarajevo Semir Efendic explained that this is a modern avenue, which is to have two lanes in both directions, each 35 meters wide, with green dividing lane, wide pavements, and a bicycle track.
“This is the first transversal being built after the war, and until now we have mostly widened and reconstructed the existing transversals. When it comes to property and legal relations, we have some problems which are more of formal nature, given that the expropriation of the land was conducted during 1970s and some cases exist where it was completed, but the Institute for Construction of the Sarajevo Canton did not register it. That will be solved soon as well”, Efendic said.
