Today in the morning, a bear was spotted on the streets of Sarajevo’s Vratnik neighborhood, and as confirmed for Klix.ba, an intervention team from the Sarajevo Hunting Association was sent to the field.
The Operational Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton confirmed that they were informed that a bear was walking in the streets and moving in the direction of the city, but all competent institutions were immediately informed.
President of the Sarajevo Hunting Association Muriz Bukva confirmed for Klix.ba that they are following the bear and directing it to return from where it came from.
“We’re trying to bring him back, and he’s already headed towards the barracks, that is, towards Zmajevac. That’s what we’re doing, and if necessary, we’ll put him to sleep and bring him back… We’re in contact with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. If he starts causing problems and going crazy, we will have to shoot him so that he does not harm anyone,” Bukva told Klix.ba.
Although the residents of this part of Sarajevo are worried, the authorities point out that there is no need to panic because the bear is under control.
Hunters point out that people have threatened bear habitats with irresponsible behavior, motorbikes and ATVs through the forests, which has also disrupted the life of the animals.
