Global oil prices are falling today as investors weigh the risk of a potential renewed escalation between the United States and Iran following the congressional elections, alongside the possibility of diplomatic progress in resolving tensions.

In London, the price of North Sea Brent crude is down 1.38 percent, standing at $96.93 per barrel.

Earlier, the price of Brent crude had reached $100 per barrel.

In New York, the price of light crude oil has fallen by 1.49 percent to $89.17 per barrel.

The price of Brent crude has dropped from a high of $110 per barrel, a level reached earlier in the week.
