A good Start to the Season in the only BiH City on the Sea

Neum, the only city on the sea in Bosnia and Herzegovina(BiH), has been a top destination for most domestic tourists for the past two years, and due to the pandemic closure of borders in that period, many Serbs became acquainted with this tourist place for the first time.

The fact that Neum is on the verge of another good season and, as many tourism workers there hope, similar to the one from 2019, was confirmed to the journalists on the spot.

Season just started

Although crowds did not start yet, there are still quite a number of guests in Neum these days, given the fact that the season has just begun.

Thus, the capacities in the hotel accommodation are almost 60 percent full, as Branimir Butigan from the Association of Hoteliers of Neum tells.

”We are quite satisfied with the occupancy, but also with the booking. As things stand now, considering the reservations, after July 10th, the capacity will be 100% full. All in all, a nice, positive start to the season, and we are glad that, in addition to domestic guests, who of course are in the lead, we also have tourists from many European countries.

The prices of accommodation, which are, due to the huge price increases, are higher by, on average, 15 percent this year, obviously suit the guests. Thus, the price of a night for two people in hotels during the season is an average of 200 BAM. In private accommodation, this amount ranges from 60 BAM and up, while prices are lower in accommodation facilities above the highway.

Emina from Sarajevo spends her summers in Neum almost every year, and she chose this period to avoid the crowds in the peak season.

”We are in private accommodation, we pay 60 BAM for an apartment for two people, which is only 10 BAM more than last year. The building is, admittedly, a little further from the beach, but it is below the highway. It is a bit more expensive in Primorska Street, which is logical, since it is the first row of buildings to the beach, where the prices of overnight stays are between 80 and 100 BAM. The prices of both food and drinks are acceptable,” she noted.

Milica arrived in Neum with her family from Prijedor, and she also told that the prices in private accommodation were acceptable.

Nice to come

”We are staying for four days and it is really nice to come now, when there are no crowds on the beaches,” Milica told.

A large influx of guests is expected in Neum during the weekend, considering the one-day excursions, ie arrivals by buses from almost all cities in BiH.

Juices 4, sandwich 5 BAM

Prices of drinks and food in restaurants and other catering facilities do not differ much from those in the other parts of BiH. Espresso coffee costs 2.50 BAM, juices 4, hot sandwiches are five, fillets and chicken hamburger are six BAM each. The price of pizza ranges from 12 BAM and up, and a portion of mixed meat is 25 BAM, Avaz writes.
