Director of Tuzla International Airport, Rifet Karasalihovic, told at a press conference after the government session of the Tuzla Canton (TC), that in comparison to 2017, an increase in the number of passengers is planned by 12 percent.

He states that 535.000 passengers were transported from Tuzla Airport last year, and in 2018, about 600.000 passengers are planned.

The completion of the project for the construction of access lights is also planned, which would enable easy take off and landing of aircraft during reduced visibility, which is stalled due to unresolved property-legal relations.

“In cooperation with the Government of the TC and the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), we would like to finish the negotiations with the BiH Ministry of Defense about land acquisition, so that the Tuzla International Airport could develop freely in the area of the former Dubrave military base,” Karasalihovic emphasized.

It is also planned to increase the total income by 12 percent, or more precisely, incomes of about 11 million BAM are planned.

At the moment, 170 workers are employed at the Tuzla airport, and in this year, hiring another 20 workers is planned. Also, the new air routes will be introduced.

Minister of Trade, Tourism and Traffic of TC, Mirsad Gluhic, announced that from March this year, the air route Tuzla-Vienna will be introduced, three times a week.

He esteemed that the Tuzla airport was one of the initiators of the development of TC.
