A new collaboration between Turki Alalshikh and Dana White could change the world of boxing as we know it. Over the past few years, Alalshikh has been leading global boxing and has played the most important role in bringing the biggest stars to Saudi Arabia. Now, he wants a new boxing era with UFC founder Dana White.
Alalshikh and White want to transform boxing into a system similar to the UFC. This way, the best boxers could fight for the same belt, and existing titles such as WBC, WBA, IBF, and WBO would become a thing of the past.
Some welcome this idea, believing it could bring logic and clarity to boxing. Traditional boxing fans and promotional companies, however, hold the opposite opinion and do not support this concept.
Alalshikh had already hinted earlier that in March 2026, he would organize a boxing spectacle in the former Alcatraz prison, on the island of the same name off the coast of San Francisco, unlike anything the world has seen before.
Alalshikh’s announcement has sparked many reactions, given Alcatraz’s history and its status as the most famous prison in the United States (U.S.). The idea of holding a sporting event there seems unreal, but knowing that Alalshikh has vast financial resources, such a project could become a reality.
Reportedly, among the many stars who would participate in the Alcatraz fights, the name of Canelo Alvarez has been mentioned, as he has signed a four-fight contract with organizers from Saudi Arabia.
If this event is realized, it could change boxing forever, but now the question arises – will this new version of boxing manage to preserve the sport’s authenticity and soul?
