By opening his agency Nanny.hr, Omer Zvizdić brought a whiff of America to Croatia.
Namely, precisely in Zagreb the idea was born for a new specialized agency for occasional babysitting. The owner says that they are unique on the national market because they operate on the principle of Uber for babysitters. That means that they can save their primary jobs and babysit in their free time.
“Other agencies in business do not operate like we do. Besides that, they have a price list for finding babysitters or nannies and that amount is being charged from the parents in advance, at the same time usually charging the reimbursement of the very providers of services, i.e. the nannies who are being connected with the parents according to compatibility. We do not charge anything from our nannies. Costs of hiring a psychologist are being paid by Nanny.hr exclusively. Apart from our check-ups of the nannies, we also offer to the parents to rent baby monitors so that they could monitor the babysitting on their smart phones,” Zvizdić explained.
Paying is also similar as with Uber. A parent chooses a nanny and pays via PayWay, PayPal or to the transaction account of Nanny.hr, with no further need of worrying about cash and additional paying. Through the web page, the parents make reservations, write all notes, and pay, whereas the nanny comes and babysits for the requested time. Currently, Nanny.hr has around ten available nannies.
Omer Zvizdić is a born Sarajevan, but a US citizens who worked as a journalist for the Voice of America in Washington before coming to Zagreb. While his wife was working, he was the one spending the most time with their daughter and, as he says, he became an expert in babysitting.
