A Protest in Podgorica against the Resolution on the Genocide in Srebrenica

In front of the building of the Government of Montenegro in Podgorica, a protest was held tonight by citizens who are dissatisfied with the announcement of the executive power that they will support the resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica in the United Nations (UN).

Hundreds of citizens gathered at the protest, chanting “Treason, betrayal” on several occasions. Those gathered carried flags of Serbia and Russia, church flags with four glasses, as well as tricolors with the coat of arms of Petrović, which were used during the Kingdom of Montenegro.

The President of the Michaelmas Choir, one of the organizations organizing the protest, Zdravko Nišavić, announced that tomorrow, if the resolution is adopted, an even bigger protest will be organized in front of the Government of Montenegro.

“We are not a genocidal nation, we are not a nation that would harm someone,” Nišavić said.

He believes that the adoption of the resolution “will contribute to the conflicts in the Balkans”.

“It is not clear to us whether the people we brought to power do not see this. It will contribute to conflicts. We have gathered to help them understand this,” Nišavić said.

Montenegro’s vote to adopt the resolution is, according to him, a dangerous act.

The meeting in Podgorica was organized by pro-Serbian organizations, and some of the politicians from smaller pro-Serbian political parties in Montenegro were also present.

Present were the deputy of United Montenegro Vladimir Dobričanin, the holder of the list “Budva our city” in the local elections in Budva Nikola Jovanović, the president of Prava Montenegro Marko Milačić, the president of Free Montenegro Vladislav Dajković and the president of the Serbian National Council Momčilo Vuksanović.

Tonight’s gathering was secured by a large number of police officers with equipment for breaking up protests, and protective fences were also placed in front of the Government of Montenegro building, AA writes.
