A Request was sent for Reduction of Gas Price by 30 Percent

Minister of Communal Economy, Infrastructure, Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection in the Sarajevo Canton Government, Almir Bečarević, sent the Federal Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry, Nermin Đindić, and the Minister of Trade, Zlatan Vujanović, a request requesting a reduction in gas prices by at least 30 percent, considering that that is the real price of gas and that in this way the excessive costs incurred by gas users will be reduced.

“Gas supplier for Bosnia and Herzegovina is the company Eneregoinvest d.d. According to the profit and loss account, Sarajevo realizes a much larger difference between the selling and purchasing price compared to the established practice decades before. We rightly believe, bearing in mind the prices of gas on the global market, that there is room for a significant correction of the price of this energy in favor of its users in Sarajevo Canton,” Bečarević stated in the request.

The income statement of Energoinvest for 2022, which was published on the Sarajevo Stock Exchange SASE, also speaks in support of this assessment, as the minister pointed out.

He also reminded that due to the current extremely high gas prices, there is a significant drop in gas consumption in Sarajevo.

“It is worrying that there are currently over 10,000 connections in Sarajevo where gas consumption is registered at the level of zero, and an additional 10,000 connections where very little gas consumption is registered,” Minister Bečarević points out.

He also emphasized that the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina can set the price of gas at the proposal of the competent ministry at the session itself, independently of the supplier’s proposal, and calls on it to act in that direction due to the enormous gas costs incurred by its users.
