Parking lot in front of the Youth Theatre is soon to be converted into a square under which an underground public garage with 128 parking spaces will be built.
“Construction of a public underground garage covering 5.568 square meters with around 128 parking spaces with entrance and exit connected to the Kulovića street will be built between the Youth Theatre and the Kulovića street. Terms of use, construction, arrangement and protection of the square area in front of the Youth Theatre are defined with the Urban project “Quadrant Sirano – Youth Theatre” as the valid planning document which represents the basis for approval of all interventions within it,” the Municipality of Centar stated.
The Cantonal Public Utility Enterprise Rad, the company which maintains the existing parking lot in front of the Youth Theatre, stated that they currently have no information about the stage which this project is in. They stated that the entire project of implementation of the construction of the public underground garage and the Square is being conducted by the Centar Municipality.
Givent that the largest part of the land is owned by the Centar Municipality and taking into consideration the expressed interest in co-financing of the construction of this garage, solving of legal and property issues and the creation of planning prerequisites for the implementation of the planned amenities are in progress, the Municipality Centar added.
Institute for Planning of Development of the Sarajevo Canton warns about the lack of parking spaces, especially in the city, and each vehicle in a garage means one vehicle less on the streets.
