Two elderly people who were seriously injured in the fire at the Home for the Elderly “Ahmedić” in Mosorovac near Lukavac have died – it was confirmed by the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of the Tuzla Canton.
The Prosecutor’s Office confirmed for Fena that the prosecutor issued an order to the forensic medicine expert to perform an autopsy, in order to determine the exact causes of death.
The fire broke out on the night of September 16 to 17 in a facility for the accommodation and care of the elderly. On that occasion, two people suffered serious injuries, after which they were hospitalized at the Tuzla University Clinical Center.
A female person, O. H. (1948), suffered severe burns and inhalation injuries, for which she was intubated and connected to mechanical ventilation, while M. O. suffered burns to her face and body. It was previously reported from UKC Tuzla that the health condition of both patients was serious.
After the fire, an investigation was conducted, led by the duty prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of TK, and conducted by investigators of the Criminal Police Sector of the Police Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of TK, along with fire protection inspectors, an occupational safety expert and an electrical expert.
By order of the prosecutor, the owner and responsible person of the institution, Edin Ahmedić (1968) from Tuzla, was arrested. After the criminal investigation, he was handed over to the jurisdiction of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of the Tuzla Canton, together with the report and collected evidence. The court decided not to impose a one-month detention on him.
The investigation into the circumstances of the fire and the death of two people is ongoing.
