About 13,000 Israelis have been wounded, including 2,500 soldiers, since the war in Gaza broke out on October 7, Israeli Health Minister Uriel Busso said on Monday.
Busso told the sessions of the Knesset health committee that two billion shekels (490 million euros) had been set aside for the mental health and rehabilitation system and to increase the number of beds from 900 to 1,500.
“We will add an additional 2,300 hospital beds and open more centers in the coming years,” said Busso.
Israel launched relentless air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip following a cross-border attack by Hamas on October 7.
The attacks left the Gaza Strip in ruins. About 60 percent of the enclave’s infrastructure was damaged or destroyed, and about two million residents were displaced.
At least 23,084 Palestinians have been killed and 58,926 injured since then.
About 1,200 Israelis have been killed in the Hamas attack.
