Abu Dhabi: Zvizdic proposed Establishment of a Special Center in Sarajevo

zvizdic-abu-dhabiChairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdic, attended the grand ceremony of marking the Statehood Day in Abu Dhabi, which is celebrated in memory of the 1971.

That year, the seven emirates were united in the United Arab Emirates.

Chairman Zvizdic came in Abu Dhabi at the invitation of Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the President of France Francois Hollande to attend the International Conference on the Protection of Cultural Heritage in Conflict Areas.

The ceremony was attended by many senior world officials, among others, French President Francois Hollande, President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani, the Prime Minister of Greece Alexis Tsipras, the Prime Minister of Senegal Mohammed Dionne, President of the Republic of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolic, the President of Egypt Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the President of the Republic of Mali Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta.

While addressing participants of the conference, Chairman Zvizdic offered the establishment of a specialized global centers / institutes for the preservation of world cultural heritage in danger, which would be located in Sarajevo, and that would be a place for exchange of experiences and training of experts from different parts of the world, and that could prepare the reconstruction and revitalization of the world’s cultural heritage threatened by armed conflicts with the real experience and practical examples of successful restoration of cultural heritage.

“A few months ago, at a meeting of the World Committee for Cultural Heritage, BiH, in cooperation with colleagues from neighboring countries Serbia, Croatia and Montenegro, at the list of World Heritage were enrolled unique stone monuments – stecak tombstones. It was a remarkable effort and recognition, which evaluated the importance of the cultural heritage of BiH,” said Zvizdic.

“We would be honored to offer the establishment of one of the world’s specialized centers / institutes for the preservation of the world cultural heritage in danger, which would be located in Sarajevo, capital of BiH, and that would be a place for exchange of experiences and training of experts from different parts of the world, which could prepare the projects of reconstruction and revitalization of the world’s cultural heritage threatened by armed conflict on the basis of the real experience and practical examples of successful restoration of cultural heritage.”

“Of course, our institutions and experts are available for a detailed elaboration of this proposal,” concluded Zvizdic.
