Alexei Navalny’s team announced that his body was not in the morgue where prison officials said he was being held.

Kira Yarmish, a spokeswoman for the Russian activist, said Navalny’s mother and lawyer arrived at the mortuary in Salehard, a town near the prison where he was serving his sentence, but it was closed.

In a post on social network X, formerly Twitter, Yarmish said they were both assured his body was in the morgue near the penal colony.

“The lawyer called the phone number on the door. He was told he was the seventh person to answer today.

Alexei’s body is not in the morgue,” Yarmish wrote.

We remind you that the biggest critic of Putin, Alexei Navalny, died yesterday in the Arctic prison colony where he was serving a 19-year sentence.

The Russian prison service announced that the causes of his death were being determined, Klix.ba writes.
