At the proposal of the Ministry of Transport, the Government of Canton Sarajevo (CS) established new subsidies for public transport tickets, on the basis of which all pupils and students will have free public transport from May 1st.

“All pupils and students will be able to use public transport for free, and we believe that this decision will contribute to better results for young people, as well as household budgets. So far, we have made major changes in ticket prices and we will continue to find and implement new solutions in the interest of citizens,” said the Minister of Transport Adnan Steta.

With this decision, Sarajevo will be the only city in the region that has free public transportation for all pupils and students.

“Since 2019, significant benefits have been realized for various categories of users, for whom transportation is cheaper, we have helped passengers not feel any price increases, introduced electronic tickets, and are working on changing the tariff system,” Minister Steta added.

He expressed his belief that Sarajevo will be an example for all cities in the country and the region when it comes to ticket prices, subsidies, and free benefits for citizens, the Protocol and Press Service of the CS announced.
