More than 96,000 tourists visited FB&H in August 2015, which is 25. 3 % more than in August 2014. The share of domestic tourists was 16.1 % and foreign 83.9 %, as stated from the Federal Bureau for Statistics.
In the last three years, B&H was several times on the front pages of the world magazines, which ranked natural beauty of B&H among the most beautiful on the world. National Geographic ranked B&H among the top 10 destinations for mountain biking in 2012. In the same year, this world-wide magazine declared rafting on the three rivers in B&H as life adventure, and 2 years later it ranked Sarajevo as one of the top destinations.
The Guardian also wrote about the natural beauty of B&H in 2010. In 2014, the Huffington Post ranked B&H among the top 10 destinations that are most acceptable by price to the average tourists.
According to data from the Federal Office of Statistics, the number of tourist over nights stays has also increased in August this year. More than 233,600 tourists spent a night in one of the cities of B&H, which is 45.3 % more than in August last year. Tourists are usually staying at hotels, as stated from the Office. Tourists from Italy, Poland, Turkey, Kuwait and France mostly visited FB&H in August.
Tourism experts estimate that B&H has two world tourist phenomenon: Medjugorje and Pyramids in Visoko. If we consider B&H rivers, mountains, lakes, beautiful cities as well as delicious and cheap food, tourism can bring hundreds of millions of BAM to our country every year.
