Have you already visited Hadzihabanovic’s Villa, the Austro-Hungarian Pearl in BiH?

Bosnia and Herzegovina has numerous luxurious buildings from the Austro-Hungarian period. One of them is Hadzisabanovic’s villa, which is located about two kilometers southeast of Pale.

This villa was declared as a national monument of BiH back in 2002, and the Government of the RS is in charge to take all the necessary measures to protect it and return it to its original state.

The project was made in March 1912 in the Carpenter studio of August Tabory in Sarajevo by the order of the brothers Hadzisabanovic, who had sawmills located next to the villa. Moreover, they had a cattle farm, a bakery, a store, and a mekteb (Islamic elementary school). The villa was completed at the end of that year.

It was built in the style of an Austrian villa. This villa contains three floors made of brick and cement and a roof made of baked tile.

It was in a private ownership until 1946 when it was nationalized by the Communist authorities, after which it went to the ownership of the Municipality of Pale. A reconstruction that changed its appearance was conducted ten years before its nationalization and then were added wooden decorative elements that changed the facade.

What is especially remarkable about this building are two towers and large windows.
