BiH Ministar of Defence Zekerijah Osmić and the Deputy Minister for Policy and Planning Marina Pendeš met today in Sarajevo with the Ambassador of Spain in BiH Aurora Mejia and with the military attaché of Spain in BiH, Colonel Antonio Cortinas.

They talked about the cooperation in the field of defence between BiH and Spain and the possibilities of improving the cooperation.

Osmić thanked the Armed Forces of Spain and MoD of Spain for their help to the MoD of BiH and AF BiH, especially in the field of special training of soldiers in demining activities, as well as for the reconstruction of the Spanish plaza in Mostar, but also for other important activities that Spain has supported over the years in BiH.

Minister presented the most significant activities of the AF BiH and their priority goals for the period to come.

Ambassador of Spain in BiH Aurora Mejia supported the suggestions of the highest representatives of MoD BiH to improve the cooperation of BiH and Spain by creating new projects and programs.

She added that Spain is the country that will continue to support BiH and its defensive institutions on their way to the EU and NATO.

They all concluded that there is a need to intensify the cooperation of two countries in the field of defence, and they also started a initiative to sign a bilateral defence agreement between Spain and BiH.
