The Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nermin Nikšić, met today at the headquarters of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo with the Ambassador of France to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Francois Delmas, and the focus of the conversation was topics related to the European path of our country, reform issues, and the current security and political situation.

Prime Minister Nikšić informed the French ambassador about the fulfillment of obligations and priorities in the process of approaching the European Union.

“In the past period, we managed to adopt a set of laws, and build a positive atmosphere of discussion and agreement without conflict and confrontation. There are challenges ahead of us, and we would like to fulfill the conditions set before us by the European Union much faster when it comes to passing laws, and which have a huge benefit for all citizens of BiH. We in the Government of the Federation of BiH are firmly committed to doing it as soon as possible,” said Prime Minister Nikšić.

He emphasized that fiscal reform is a priority on which the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is currently focused, through the adoption of new laws on taxes, contributions and the minimum wage, as well as the introduction of the online fiscalization process with the aim of a more effective fight against the gray economy and tax evasion.

Ambassador Delmas expressed France’s full support for our country’s path towards the EU, as well as for the further improvement of bilateral cooperation, as well as the resolution of important issues that are within the jurisdiction of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He reminded that France supported the granting of candidate status to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and emphasized his country’s support for the expansion of the European Union.

“My team is available, ready to work together on all issues that are important for our two countries. I want us to continue strengthening relations in all areas and to emphasize that you have a friend in the Embassy of France,” said the French ambassador.

The interlocutors assessed that the continuation of cooperation between the police and security services is important, with the aim of strengthening joint security. They also pointed to the importance of the necessary reform processes to strengthen the rule of law, as well as to protect the integrity of the electoral process. Also, support was expressed for strengthening the ties between France and the Federation of BiH, especially when it comes to businessmen’s cooperation, but also in the field of environmental protection, and learning the French language, the Office of the Government of the Federation of BiH for Public Relations announced.
