Athlete Amel Tuka was declared by the Olympic Committee as the “Athlete of the Year” in B&H.
Tuka deserved this recognition after a great season in which he set up the best time on 800 meters in the world and won bronze medal at the World Championship in Beijing, China.
Member of the Athletic Club Zenica won the title of Indoor Champion on the Balkans Championship in Istanbul this year, and then won the first place with the world’s best result in the season in the premiere performance on one of the meetings of the Diamond League in Monaco. He concluded the season by winning the bronze medal at the World Championship in Beijing.
Representatives of B&H in judo Aleksandra Samardzic and Larisa Ceric were also nominated in the choice for the athlete of the year in B&H.
Besides the award for the athlete of the year, 5 more categories were awarded at the ceremony in the Olympic Museum in Sarajevo.
Head coach of the cadet basketball team of B&H Josip Pandza was declared as the most successful coach in 2015, while cadet basketball team of B&H was declared as the most successful team of the year.
Women’s volleyball club “Bimal Jedinstvo” was declared as the most successful sports club.
Young basketball national team player of B&H Dzanan Musa was elected for the best young athlete in the junior category, while the tennis player Nafisa Berberovic was elected for the best woman young athlete in the junior category.
Special award for remarkable sports result was awarded to the boxer Damir Beljo.
