The Ambassador of the United States of America to NATO, Julianne Smith, arrived today to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to the Twitter profile of the American Embassy in Sarajevo.

“We warmly welcome the arrival of the US ambassador to NATO, Julianne Smith, as well as our and NATO allies in Sarajevo. Together, we are unwavering in our support for the Euro-Atlantic integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” according to a post on the Embassy’s official profile.

During the day, Smith is scheduled to hold meetings at the NATO base in Butmir, and during the day he will also visit the BiH Ministry of Defense, where he will talk with BiH Defense Minister Sifet Podžić.

She should also hold talks with representatives of the American Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The ambassador’s visit comes after the recent announcement by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken about military aid to Bosnia and Herzegovina due to the threat of Russian aggression.

The visit of the American ambassador to NATO comes just one month before the UN Security Council will vote on the extension of EUFOR’s mandate in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
