With the help of American Steve Reitz, tens of thousands square metres in Rasadnik, on the periphery of Gorazde, are getting its prewar appearance.
According to Dnevni Avaz, this humanitarian worker, who has been living in Gorazde since 1997, got 43 dunums of land from Gorazde Municipality. For the period of 4 years he intends to convert that land into a raspberry plantation.
”There are two key aspects for which I chose to build raspberry plantation. One of it is the fact that people need jobs. On the other side, there is the hope that with my intensive work and with the idea to follow, I can secure a better life for myself”, says Steve.
In this way he replaced sunny Florida for the Bosnian hills and skittish winters.
Soon, he decided to stay in this town, together with his wife Kim and two daughters Jenna and Rebekah.
With my arrival in B&H I may fulfill my childhood dream, because as a child I did never saw snow in Florida. People in Bosnia Herzegovina, as well as in Gorazde, are kind and friendly and I learned a lot from them, says Reitz. In February last year Ric was cleaning the snow from the streets, which helped him to meet new friends.
