Amira_GuardianBritish magazine Songlines published a list of 10 biggest divas of world music.

Among these top 10 divas is our queen of sevdah – Amira Medunjanin.

The refined musical taste of British journalist Nigel Williamson put our Amira Medunjanin on the list which, among others, includes international stars such as Oumou Sangare, Natacha Atlas, Buika, Mariza, Lilla Downs and Angelique Kidjo.

It should be specially mentioned that these ladies are “breaking the glass ceiling,” when it comes to the presence of women in the music industry.

In the text about our Amira was stated that she is “Bosnian Billie Holliday,” and that she sings with warmth and intimacy combined with theatrical passion on her new album, which is rarely seen.

This is a great recognition not only for our Amira and her artistic work but also for the music of BiH and our sevdalinka, which was included in the top of the current offer in the genre of world music.
