Analysis: A political Defeat for the Party Leading in “The Eight”

After Friday’s voting in the House of Peoples of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) for delegates to the state House of Peoples, the SDP will not have a single delegate, which represents a political defeat for the party leading the Trojka.

During the mentioned voting, the SDP had candidate lists for delegates from Bosniaks and Croats, but neither received a sufficient number of votes.

Jugoslav Brdar, a Croat candidate, received only two votes, and Elvir Karajbic received three votes, which was insufficient to pass.

From the Croatian Caucus, Marina Pendes, Dragan Covic and Zdenko Cosic were elected in front of HDZ, Ilija Cvitanovic(HDZ 1990), and Zlatko Miletic (ZNG).

Sefik Dzaferovic, Safet Softic from SDA, Dzenan Djonlagicfrom DF, Kemal Ademovic from Narod i Pravda – NiP (People and Justice), and Dzemal Smajic (SBiH) were elected to the state House of Peoples from the Bosniak Caucus.

Earlier, during the voting in the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska (NARS) for a delegate in the Caucus of Serbs of the House of Peoples of BiH, the SDP also had a candidate, who did not pass.

Due to the secret voting, it is difficult to claim how the delegates of the Eight voted in the House of Peoples of FBiH, but due to this outcome, it is clear that the Eight was not united and the question is what is its future.

In the last election cycle, the SDP had one delegate in the Bosniak Caucus of the FBiH House of Peoples, Denis Becirovic, and in this one, they will not have any.

Regardless of the allegations that the parties of the Trojka will trade with the HDZ in such a way as to enable them to support the 4th delegate in the Croatian Caucus of the State House of Peoples, and that in return the SDP will receive support for the candidacy of Igor Stojanovic for the (vice) president of the FBiH, this has not happened, Klix.ba reports.
