detaineesDue to the practice of the courts in RS to send payment requests of court costs to former detainees, which range from 2,000 BAM to 10,000 BAM, this population is going through a torture all over again and it should be stopped until the final judgment of the Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, as announced after yesterday’s meeting of the Vice President of Republika Srpska Ramiz Salkic with former detainees and representatives of the Association of Detainees of B&H.

“The question, what if the Strasbourg court does not resolve all the issue remains, through what more this detainees and their families should go through,” said Salkic, adding that there were also cases of detainees on the list of property to seize and compensation of court costs.

President of the Association of Detainees of B&H Jasmin Meskovic emphasized that the victims of the camps submitted nearly 30,000 lawsuits against RS during the war, and that an inventory of the property of detainees exist today in Banja Luka, and the verdict was made to pay court costs and attorney in the amount of 7,000 BAM.

According to Meskovic, this is unacceptable, which is why the meeting was held today in order to ask from institutions of the RS, primarily the Attorney General of RS and the Courts, to stop this practice.
