Analysis: Decrease in Number of Children enrolled in Schools in BiH this Year

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the school year 2020/2021, 268,059 students were enrolled in the year, which is 5,975 or 2.2 percent less than in the previous school year.

In the school year 2020/2021. year, 28,549 students were enrolled in the first grade, which is 2.3 percent less than in the previous school year, the Agency for Statistics of BiH announced.

Of the total number of students, in the lower grades, from the first to the fifth, there were 55.1 percent of students, while in the higher grades, from the sixth to the ninth, there were 44.9 percent of students.

In the school year 2020/2021, 24,548 teachers were included in the teaching process, of which 18,018 were women or 73.4 percent. In the territory of BiH at the beginning of the school year 2020/2021, there were 1,719 regular primary schools / primary and independent with regional schools / and 45 schools for children with special needs.

In the school year 2020/2021, in BiH, there were a total of 3,991 preschool institutions with 27,698 children. Compared to the previous school year, the number of children users of preschool institutions decreased by 9.4 percent, while the number of employees increased by 4.6 percent, Srna news agency reports.
