Analysis: How BiH Politicians behave towards the Citizens?

The attitude of politicians towards the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has never been at an enviable level, but what the public can hear and see in recent months is a kind of reverse psychology, where citizens have to apologize to politicians.

After showing his middle finger to the press two days ago, the member of the Presidency of BiH, Milorad Dodik, once again honored the citizens with a “moral lesson” on Wednesday night.

Commenting on the increase in fuel prices and the announcement of the abolition of excise duties on fuel, Dodik moralized the citizens. He obviously wanted to say that the increase in fuel prices does not affect the population as much, because as he sees it, the roads are very crowded and no one has parked a car due to rising fuel prices.

“Listen, I’m probably not the only one who has eyes here. But I see that it’s more crowded, everyone is in cars, no one stopped the car because the price has increased from 2.30 to 3.20 BAM. Everyone is driving cars and people don’t want to give up on that habit. If it’s such a blow, you first turn off the engine, right? Well, you don’t drive as much as you drove. You can’t enter and leave any of our cities nowadays,” he told.

He then advised citizens to “turn off the car a bit”.

We can all turn off the car a little bit. Go out to this city (Banja Luka) and see who is using the public transport, are there anypeople there? There are, but very few, and it’s not that kind of story. When I went to high school I had to miss the bar, as we called them, because there are too many people. Now in both directions of Banja Luka, four lanes are full. I do not claim that it is not necessary, but you don’t need to complain. Our story is to provide enough oil and oil products, and we are doing that,”he noted.

All these tips were shared by a politician who has probably ridden a helicopter more than a car for more than a decade, and now he says that instead of the government acting responsibly, the citizens should find understanding for politicians.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of our country, Bisera Turkovic, described our citizens in a similar way, calling them a bit spoiled.

At the beginning of the year, commenting on the financial situation of citizens in BiH and analyzing the economic situation, she mentioned that no one has the right to be tired and that we should fight and work. In such a statement, nothing would have been disputable if Minister Turkovic had not said that everyone basically has a very good life if we have something to eat and if we have light and warmth in the home, otherwise we are spoiled.

“No one should be tired of it. No one. We all have a very good life. The one who has warmth in the home, light, who has something to eat, cannot be tired. I think we are spoiled,” the Minister said back then.

Such messages show how detached politicians really are from reality and how they sometimes do not hesitate to openly criticize the public that elects them and for which they are obliged to work and create better conditions.
