Analysis: Joint Appearance in Elections would be easier with a united Left Wing

b_161105005The President of Our Party (Naša Stranka) Predrag Kojović believes that victory of national parties on elections in 2018 would soon result in the formation of three ethnic mini-states in a shaky confederation called BiH.

“For us, and I believe that people in SDP and DF think the same, that is absolutely unacceptable because it would mean not only the disappearance of BiH, but also a reward for the atrocities committed in the achievement of that anachronous political project,” said Kojović after the local elections, in the context of discussions about possible union of the left wing parties or their joint performance in the next general elections.

According to Kojović, discussions that Naša stranka had with parties of the left in Sarajevo have one goal.

“The goal is to prevent the SDA from establishing full control over Sarajevo by creating a majority in municipal and city councils and to promote initiatives and programs that place interests of all citizens and the local community in the focus. I’m afraid that it is already certain that this goal is difficult to reach because of the dispersion of councilors in the parties that we are talking to. The entire situation showed that the result of one political organization should not be evaluated only based on the quantity of voters and councilors, but primarily on the quality of people and the principles they stand for,” said Kojović.

Kojović added that parties of the left and Naša stranka, as a social-liberal political party, are separated by the difference in attitudes on some important economic and social issues.

“That is why we keep emphasizing that we can and want to talk to them about things that bring us closer. In simple terms, that is the idea of a civil, European BiH. If we can agree that this industry of hate, which is what I like to define the national parties, must be politically defeated in order for BiH to survive and prosper, if we are ready to self-renunciation and crude self-discipline, then we can together head towards those extremely important elections in 2018. In my opinion, those elections will mark the destiny of BiH for a longer period, maybe even forever,” Kojović said.

When asked what is the red line for NS for cooperation with other parties, Kojović said that it is the acceptance of the axiom that country of BiH is defined as a sovereign, democratic and secular country of equal citizens and nations that live there, and that all citizens of BiH are equal at every inch of its territory, regardless of their ethnic or religious affiliations.

“So, the equality in diversity,” concluded the President of Naša stranka Predrag Kojović.
