Analyst Hadzic: Billion Marks were collected from Tax Collection in BiH

Economic analyst Faruk Hadzic spoke for N1 about the economic crisis in the world caused by the war in Ukraine, the coming winter and energy, the possible response of the state to the difficult situation.

Almost a billion marks were collected from tax collection in BiH. That money was not returned to the citizens in the right way, says Hadzic.

Tax reforms

“I don’t know if it’s ignorance, but I don’t know how to brag about collecting taxes and not helping citizens. We need tax reforms to reduce the pressure on workers in companies. Some employers have increased incomes some not and workers are leaving. Urgently reduce the tax burden and help workers,” says Hadzic.

He spoke about pensioners and that was taken away from them through inflation should be returned to the state with higher pensions.

“It is very ungrateful to predict. The situation is changing day by day. Grain exports from Ukraine are questionable. If Ukraine is unable to export cereals to the market, then there may be global problems in the world,” he said.

Destruction of food

140,000 tons of food are destroyed annually in BiH. If the stated amount of destroyed food had been donated, the state would have received 21.5 million BAM through the collection of VAT. The current legislative framework in Bosnia and Herzegovina does not encourage companies to donate food to soup kitchens and associations that care for people in need.

“If you destroy and throw away food, you do not have to pay VAT, if you donate you pay VAT. It is more economically viable. We have to change the tax policy in BiH, to abolish the VAT on donated food,” concluded Hadzic.
