Another Mass Grave found at Rostovo Site

Based on the request of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the order of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the process of exhumation and search for mortal remains of missing persons has commenced at Rostovo site.

At the aforementioned site, mortal remains were found during the construction works, as well as pieces of clothing and footwear, which are presumed to belong to the victims from the previous war.

Immediately after the discovery of the mortal remains, the site was secured, the works were suspended, the necessary documentation for the exhumation was obtained, and the exhumation commenced today.

According to initial information, the aforementioned site could contain mortal remains of the victims of Croatian ethnicity from the area of Bugojno, who have been searched for more than two decades, and forensic processing and DNA analysis of the remains will determine the exact identity of the persons to whom the remains belong.

An Investigator of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina is coordinating the work and the activities of official persons involved in the exhumation process. A forensic pathologist, representatives of the Institute for Missing Persons (INO) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, representatives of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, workers and machinery are also at the site, and the site is being secured by the police officers of the Ministry of the Interior of the Central Bosnia Canton.

Investigators and employees of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina participate in processes of exhumations and search for missing persons in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
