Bosnia-Herzegovina this week been struck by the most severe flooding that the countries have experienced in over a century, devastating major towns and small villages alike. Houses and bridges are being swept away and even minefields are being displaced. As a result lives are being lost. Full-scale evacuation of thousands of stranded people is ongoing.
Poverty in the region is such that people generally do not have home insurance of any kind. Therefore those most badly affected by this catastrophe face total ruin after the water subsides.
