The traditional ceremonial Eid reception on the occasion of Eid al Adha was held in the backyard of the Emperor’s Mosque in Sarajevo, and the host of this ceremony, Reisu-l-ulema Husein ef. Kavazovic, noted that believers recalled the Prophet Ibrahim in the rituals of this sacrament.
“Believers recall the Prophet Ibrahim and his family in rituals of kurban and Hajj, since he was the father of monotheism. He was the voice of faith at the time of establishment of the civilization that represents a basis for the present global world,” noted Kavazovic.
“History only remembers the places that were exiles for refuges. Those places where people were running to, they won, they belonged to the future, they were carrying the torches of civilization. Today is no different, and thus I hope that the spirit of openness and solidarity will overpower in Europe and the world,” said Kavazovic.
He recalled that he was recently in the United States where he had the opportunity to participate in the conference at which were discussed mechanisms for the protection of religious freedoms in the world.
“It was very hard to listen about murders of Muslims in Myanmar, Yazidis and Christians in Iraq and other parts of the world. It reminded me of the suffering of our people in BiH. Advocating for areas with a single religious or ethnic group leads to a conflict over minorities. It is discrimination at first, but there are possible scenarios of ethnic cleansing in the end. We know that in BiH. We expected from this pre-election campaign to bring new tensions, but we could not even imagine how far some of the politicians would go. What we have heard, from horrible insult to religious, human, and all other values, to the chauvinism that borders with fascism. The dead were not spared in this campaign either,” noted Kavazovic.
The reception was attended by representatives of religious communities in BiH, the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Bakir Izetbegovic, numerous ambassadors, mayors and other officials and representatives of the political, public and cultural life in BiH.
