Applause and Welcome for arrested Police Officers suspected of Corruption

Dealing with criminals in their own ranks and exposing the criminal group from Kakanj were the goals of the police action codenamed META 2. Searches were carried out at 20 locations, and the target of the action was the same number of people. The epilogue of the action is 19 arrested while one person is being searched for. As many as 16 police officers of the Kakanj Police Station who are suspected of corruption were arrested.

They are suspected of conspiring to commit criminal acts – abuse of position or authority, and receiving gifts or other forms of benefit, as well as the criminal offense of aggravated theft. Unofficially, it is about the illegal exploitation of coal in the Kakanj area, which, according to the investigation, the Kakanj police officers knew about, but in exchange for money, they avoided performing their official duties, which is why they ended up behind bars.

However, the video that showed on social media is almost surreal. Several tens of gathered citizens welcomed the arrested police officers who were escorted by a large number of special forces to the Court building with applause and shouts of support.

“It’s like they’re being sent on a field trip,” is one of the many comments that can be seen on social media.
