The Chairman of the Commission to Preserve National Monuments of B&H Dubravko Lovrenović is optimistic in regard to the official application of UNESCO by 31st January 2014, for inclusion on the UNESCO list of World Heritage medieval tombstones.
“I pleased to say that a large part of the work concerning the preparation of the nomination dossier is completed“, said Lovrenović to reporters in Sarajevo.
Recalling that Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Croatia are working together on nomination of tombstones for UNESCO World Heritage List, Lovrenović stated that a part of the work related to the preparation of the nomination dossier should be completed in September, at a meeting in Zagreb.
“Substantially the nomination dossier is completely finished, it is remaining some tickets, which is technical part of the job“, specified Lovrenović.
He expects that in due time will be brought to an end of the work for the management plan.
In the areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia and Montenegro is preserved more than 70.000 tombstones at about 3.300 locations.
The initiative for the joint nomination of tombstones, medieval tombstones, for the list of the UNESCO World Heritage was launched from B&H two years ago.
