The Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina have made all the necessary preparations and are ready to direct the resources of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the areas affected by catastrophic floods, after the strong storm that affected the Republic of Slovenia in recent days.

After the implementation of legal procedures for engaging the available capacities of the Armed Forces of BiH and the Conclusion of the Presidency of BiH for the engagement of resources about BiH for the needs of providing assistance to civil bodies in responding to a natural disaster, the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of BiH have prepared the necessary resources for providing assistance in flooded areas.

The procedure was initiated after the Republic of Slovenia activated the European Union Mechanism for Civil Protection to provide assistance in the event of natural disasters, of which Bosnia and Herzegovina is also a member, and the mechanism of the NATO Response Coordination Center in the event of natural disasters (NATO EARDCC).

In accordance with the available capacities and on the basis of requests, the Armed Forces of BiH prepared a unit of the temporary composition of the Armed Forces of BiH, consisting of ten members of the engineering battalion, which is trained for such situations, and the necessary mechanization.

The mission of the members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be to provide support to the structures of the authorities of the Republic of Slovenia in responding to and removing the consequences of floods and will operate in the engagement zone with members of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Slovenia, announced the Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
