At least 10 people were killed and 32 injured in a fire at a hotel in the ski resort of Kartalkaya in northern Turkey, local authorities said on Tuesday.

Bolu Governor Abdulaziz Aydin stated that the fire broke out after midnight in the restaurant area of the hotel and quickly engulfed the building, AA reports.

Emergency response teams from neighboring towns, including firefighters, disaster response units and medical teams supported by helicopters, were dispatched to the scene.

Authorities evacuated about 230 guests from the hotel while firefighting efforts continued.

An investigation into the cause of the fire has been launched.

Kartalkaya in the province of Bolu is one of the most important winter tourist destinations in Turkey, attracting thousands of visitors during the ski season.

The resort is located about 295 kilometers east of Istanbul.
