As part of the EUFOR exercises called “Quick Response 2013” at the Sarajevo airport on 15 April, the landing of military aircraft “Antonov” from the UK are anticipated.
The plane “Antonov” is one of the biggest transport planes in the world, and will land at Sarajevo International Airport to transport vehicles and cargo for troops from the UK that are participating in the EUFOR exercise “Quick Response” 2013.
The arrival of the airplane is scheduled at 8:00, and departure at 11:30.
As part of this EUFOR training, a Day for High Officials will also be held.
The exercise “Quick Response 2013” will be held from 15-28 April 2013 and will demonstrate the ability of EUFOR to be successfully activated, have quick schedules and integrate troops that are on standby with reserve forces stationed outside BiH.
This year’s deployment of two troops of light infantry, one from Great Britain and one from Hungary, will result in the increase of soldiers in BiH under the control of EUFOR by around 300.
From this it is clear that EUFOR retained the ability to support peace and security in BiH.
Members of BiH Armed Forces will be engaged during the phase of the exercise with the aim of further professional training and improving international interoperability.
During this period there will be a noticeable increase in troop movement in various locations throughout BiH.
The deployment of troops will start on 15 April when the reserve troops will move from their bases to BiH and to “Butmir” base and deployment will end on 17 April.
The first part of the training phase will take place from 18-20 April in the “Butmir” base and the nearby barracks “Rajlovac” in Sarajevo.
The second part of the training phase, where one troop and added elements from the BiH Armed Forces will atennd, will begin on 20 April.
This phase will take place in Kalinovik and Pazarić, and among others will consist of demonstrations and combined military operations for high military officials that will be held in the barracks “Zaim Imamović” in Pazarić on 25 April of this year.
The exercise will finish on 27 April.
EUFOR considered it important to explain to the public that this increase in military activity is nothing to worry about, because it is a routine military exercise.
It is necessary that EUFOR retain the ability to carry out its key military tasks in order to preserve a safe and stable environment in BiH.
Professionalism and capability of the BiH Armed Forces is something that BiH should be proud of, and their soldiers gain the necessary level of professionalism for a successful Euro-Atlantic integration.
