Austrian Parliament unanimously adopted Resolution on Srebrenica Genocide

The Parliament of Austria adopted yesterday the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica, which honors the Bosniaks killed in July 1995 in this area.

The proposal of the Resolution was initiated by BiH. association in Austria “Consilium Bosniacum” was referred to the parliamentary procedure on June 14 of this year. It was first adopted by the foreign policy committee of the parliament, and then by the parliament itself.

The resolution was adopted unanimously, and even the right-wing FPÖ MPs voted for it.

The speeches of many parliamentarians as well as the adoption at the end were accompanied by thunderous applause.

It was said that this document requests the Austrian authorities to continue their support for the commemoration of the genocide in Srebrenica.

The document details what happened in Srebrenica during that period, condemns such an act and cites verdicts on war crimes in that city. The need to face the past and maintain the memory of those killed in Srebrenica was also emphasized.

The mothers of Srebrenica expressed their gratitude to the Austrian Parliament for this act on Twitter, klix.ba writes.
