bombUnexploded air bomb from World War II, almost 466 kilograms, was successfully removed today from the river Vrbas in Banja Luka.

“The action was performed this morning, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., without any problems,” confirmed the mayor of Banja Luka Slobodan Gavranovic, at the press conference.

Considering great destructive power of the bomb, the citizens of Banja Luka, who live in the area of 400 meters from the Town Bridge were invited to leave their houses during the action due to the prohibition of movement indoors and outdoors.

It is estimated that more than 10,000 residents live in this area, who returned to their homes after the bomb was removed.

After it was removed from the river Vrbas, air bomb from World War II, produced in England and weighing 466 kilograms, was successfully transported through Banja Luka and will be destroyed at Manjača.

Gavranovic noted at the press conference that there was no problem during the operation and that they had the full cooperation of the citizens.

The Chief of Centre for Public Security Banja Luka Boško Pandža said that more than 350 police officers, 40 members of the Civil Protection and 15 deminers were involved in securing the area.

Assistant Director of the RS Civil protection administration Dragan Kos, said that the operation was completed and the relocation of the air bomb was finished before they even expected.
