Tomorrow in Warsaw, the football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina will play the first match in the new season of the Fan League against Poland. The team of head coach Sergej Barbarez will have a tough job at the beginning of this competition, considering that after Warsaw, there will be a visit to Romania, and then two home matches, that is, a total of four matches in 11 days. At the press conference ahead of the duel with Poland, Barbarez said that the two away matches at the start of the competition were “something strong”, but that the team in his tenure showed that they “dominate the game and that we are there when we need to be”.
All the players who arrived in Poland are, as he says, ready, eager and willing, which makes him satisfied.
He also emphasized that appetites have increased after the World Cup, and that he will enter every match bravely.
“We respect the opponent, but we want to use the chances we get. We were never happy with the calculations and we don’t think about it,” said Barbarez.
The selector was left without the services of the first goalkeeper, who canceled his trip to Warsaw due to an injury, and in his place, Borca net keeper Mladen Jurkas is called.
Barbarez said that it was an injury that Vasilj had during the World Cup.
“It spread a little with the frequent changes of the ground surface, the pitches on which we trained at home did not suit him and unfortunately he renewed the injury. It is nothing tragic and so serious, but we will not have these four matches at our disposal”, said the coach of the BiH team.
He is optimistic about the performance in this group, recalling that Bosnia and Herzegovina had the greatest success when it comes to all three opponents, which he wants to continue.
“It’s not easy to play this kind of system, we’ve never played four games in 11 days, especially two away and then two at home, and that farewell to Edin… There’s a lot going on in your head, but there’s no calculating. We’ll go into every game to win and we want to take those first two places. We’ll see what will happen in the end,” Barbarez concluded.
Tarik Muharemović, the stopper of the BiH team, also addressed the journalists, who pointed out that he knows many Polish national team members, but singled out the experienced striker Levandowski and Zelinski, whom he considers the best player of that selection.
However, he points out that the team wants to continue its successful performances from the World Cup.
“Our journey has just begun, we are moving on and we want to return Bosnia and Herzegovina where it belongs. Now we have the League of Nations and we want to show ourselves there until the last game,” said Muharemović.
