COM EUFOR, Major General Maurizio Fronda, welcomed Mr. Andris Kuznieks, Head of the European Commission Representation in Latvia, and a delegation of senior Latvian journalists to Camp Butmir on 24th September.
The visit formed part of a study programme organised by the European Commission Representation in Latvia to support fact-based reporting on political, economic and security developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including the country’s European Union integration process.
During the engagement, the delegation received a briefing on EUFOR Operation Althea, including the mission’s mandate, its contribution to maintaining a safe and secure environment, cooperation with the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina and coordination with international partners.
COM EUFOR also exchanged views with the visiting journalists on EUFOR’s role in supporting stability and the importance of maintaining a visible, credible and impartial presence throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The delegation included representatives of a broad range of Latvian national media organisations, including public television and radio, news agencies, newspapers and online media.
The visit provided journalists with an opportunity to gain direct insight into EUFOR’s mission and daily activities at Camp Butmir, supporting informed reporting and greater understanding of EUFOR Operation Althea among audiences in Latvia.
EUFOR remains committed to transparent communication and regular engagement with media and international partners as it continues to support the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina in maintaining a safe and secure environment.
